inept

much to do
makes me blue
i have no time
to make this rhyme
need to learn
or grades will burn
for they will show
that i don't know
how to account
without a doubt

election

To the polls the citizens went
their goal: elect a new president.
Hours later the results came in,
all standing by, waiting to hear who will win.
The races were near,
the states red and blue;
their polices, dear
and quickly we knew.
Mister Obama, our leader elect.
Our country's future he must not neglect.

failure

with such tasks so futile
this should not be brutal
but come easy success does not
instead we spend hours
with all our brain powers
and do all the work that we ought
to receive such results
all momentum it haults
despite all things we've been taught
one might just stop trying
academically dying
when all work ethic's been shot

November 2, 2008

evening

the leaves start to fall
time begins to crawl
we're still halfway from quarter's end.
I do my school work
in my room I lurk
the hour I try to suspend.
after coffee with friends
the day quickly ends
the twilight approaches with haste.
An hour too dim
I live on a whim
the evening I'd rather not waste.

el día de los muertos

Las calaveras decorate
for this day many could not wait;
to honor those who are now late
this is a time to celebrate.
In hopes that family will come there
the alters offer gifts with care.
A child licks a candy head
while his mother makes the bread.
Soon they'll leave for the cemetery,
for such a place, the mood is merry.
They open up their picnic lunch,
for many hours they will munch.
Among the sea of marigolds
they dance to songs of new and old.
The candle flames all night burn gold
while tales and anecdotes are told.

halloween

spiders silky webs will spin
around the zombie tomb.
inside you'll find a skeleton;
outside, a witch's broom.
there's only sight by candlelight
it's quite a creepy scene.
what an eerie night of fright;
this eve is Halloween.

autumn 2008

my brain is so mucky
i feel oh so yucky
want nothing but to go to bed
this quarter's quite rough
it's so packed with stuff
sometimes i'd just rather be dead

scheduling woes

I really haven't had much on my mind for the last five or six days other than class registration. Such a dry subject matter did not warrant the need for complaining through the use of stanzas and the like. Not much progress has been made: I still do not have an appropriately assigned scheduling window. Theoretically I should have done so at 2pm yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon, but paperwork apparently takes a bit. Also, any other thoughts have been regarding the current quarter and how boring it continues to be, an I believe that I have sufficiently covered that area.

Anyway:

I want some good food
Chinese is the mood
I guess I'll go get some fried rice
I'm down on my knees
Wishing you used peas
perhaps I will not return thrice

a student's tale

I long for it, the summer of last year,
the post-High freedom and new life it brought.
As our terms pass, one really should not fear
but come with haste the season next will not.
The routine schedule of my play and work,
the lack of worry in each day's new light.
But now in darkness stress and fatigue lurk
and thus each imposed challenge I must fight.
The liberation granted us each May,
the tease it is, it shields from us the truth.
Our future lives will seldom have a day
of pleasant, care-free attitudes of youth.
To overcome each man's misfortunes had
endure we must, and do so patience-clad.

April 14, 2008

insomnia, not really

I stay up forever
and just do whatever,
No thanks to this song in my head.
I don't do my work,
I act like a jerk,
I guess I will not go to bed.
It's marvelously off-key,
let's just make more coffee.
This sucks.

areas of low pressure

I rise to gray skies,
one can only surmise
that it will stay overcast.
These days are not bad,
fun still will be had;
chances for enjoyment are vast.
Friends come from afar,
they drive in their car.
They only will stay for the day.
With departure so soon
we dance to a tune.
They then leave, much to my dismay.

popemobile

here visits the pope
to give us some hope
if his mercedes is shot
be harmed he will not
the glass is secure
his purpose so pure
when under assault
he is fine

happy birthday

happy birthday to you,
let's go to the zoo!
we'll jump in the car,
we'll stop at the bar.
we can play with the bears,
and die.
